How do I keep my teeth and gums healthy?

8 January 2019

It is easy to get your mouth clean and healthy, and keep it that way. A simple routine can help prevent most dental problems:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste
  • Spit out after brushing and do not rinse, so that the fluoride stays on your teeth longer
  • Cleaning between the teeth with ‘interdental’ brushes or floss at least once a day
  • Brush baby teeth as soon as they come through
  • Get children into a teeth-cleaning routine
  • Good eating habits – having sugary foods and drinks less often
  • Regular dental check-ups.
  • Don’t delay dental treatments

Although most people brush regularly, many don’t clean between their teeth and some people don’t have regular dental check-ups. A few small changes in your daily routine can make a big and important long term difference. Sarah, our dental hygienist can remove any build-up on your teeth and treat gum disease.

But daily dental care is up to you, so get your toothbrush, toothpaste and interdental cleaning tools (interdental brushes or dental floss) and let’s keep those teeth and gums healthy.
